Department of Medical Education



Medical education is an education related to the practice of being a medical practitioner; either the initial training to become a physician (i.e., medical school and internship), or additional training thereafter (e.g., residency and fellowship).

Medical education and training varies considerably across the world. Various teaching methodologies have been utilised in medical education, which is an active area of educational research.

Department of Medical Education will serve as a hub to promote a culture of education, research and professional development thus facilitating a quality learning environment.


This six-month competency-based certificate course is introduced to cater to the need of the busy clinical and basic sciences faculty. Besides the faculty development of our own university, it will also facilitate the capacity building of teachers of other medical colleges and universities. This program will work at a grass root level to establish a platform for the advancement of medical education. In addition, it will provide a foundation for diploma and master’s course with credits transferable within the institution. 

The program is approved by PM&DC and the Certificate will be awarded by the FJMU.

Program Goals: This certificate course endeavors to provide health professions educators with the proficiencies required to incorporate latest trends in teaching & learning, assessment, curriculum development, program evaluation, and in using evidence to improve educational practices.
